Here in the Hohe Tauern National Park region, sustainability has long been part of everyday life for us as mountain farmers. We live and work with deep respect for nature and for preserving our valuable resources.
In harmony with nature and strengthened by our regional identity, our house is a place full of emotional connection and appreciation. With us, you experience authenticity, tradition and a genuine Tyrolean way of life.
This is also reflected in small details: upcycling is a tradition for us, and sometimes a piece of our own history even lives on in our furniture – such as the wine cabinet made from wood from our old barn.
In summer 2025, “Urlaub am Bauernhof” awarded us 5 Flowers – the highest category of their quality seal. The jury agreed: “Ortnerhof combines luxury, nature, and heartfelt hospitality in a truly special way, turning every stay into an unforgettable experience.”
Good taste begins with origin. That’s why at the Ortnerhof we place great value on regional and seasonal products. What the surroundings provide finds its way onto our plates – down-to-earth and prepared with lots of love.
We prefer to work with farmers and producers from our home region and focus on short supply routes. This not only strengthens local agriculture but also ensures quality, freshness and authentic enjoyment.
A conscious holiday often begins with the journey. Conveniently, the bus stop is right outside our front door. For you, that means arriving relaxed and already enjoying your holiday on the way to Prägraten am Großvenediger.
For guests with electric vehicles, a charging station is available in the Ortnerhof car park. While you enjoy nature, your car charges – uncomplicated and right on site with 100% green electricity, largely from the regional energy community.
Leave your car behind for once during your holiday and feel the freedom. No problem! Your car is safe in our car park.
And the best part: from the Ortnerhof you can reach many hikes and excursions in the Hohe Tauern National Park comfortably on foot or by public transport. Ski and hiking buses take you directly to the starting points of your adventures.
This way, you enjoy nature more intensely and discover the surroundings more consciously.
For us, a holiday at the Ortnerhof is inseparably linked with regional appreciation and genuine responsibility – not only for nature, but also for the people who work here.
Our team is almost like part of the family. Many of our employees have been with us for years, and we are proud of every single one. Flexible working hours help balance family and career – just as we would wish for ourselves.
When it comes to food, craftsmanship and renovations, we also rely on the region: local farmers, companies and tradespeople benefit directly from the Ortnerhof.This creates a mountain holiday that is not only good for you, but also for the environment and community we love.
At the Ortnerhof, we rely on sustainable energy wherever possible.
Our electricity comes 100% from green power, largely from the regional energy community. On the roof of the Stubenhaus, a solar system provides hot water, so on sunny summer days no additional heating is needed.
The Stadl apartment house is heated with a heat pump, while the Stubenhaus is largely heated with firewood from young farmer Markus’ forest. On very cold days, the old oil boiler also runs – it works reliably but will soon be replaced by a pellet heating system or a modern heat pump.
In this way, we consciously use local energy sources and are constantly working to become even more environmentally friendly.
