Our house looks back on a long history, lovingly nurtured and shaped over generations. What has remained is the heart of the Ortnerhof: warmth, down-to-earth values and genuine Tyrolean hospitality.
Helga & Hans expanded and shaped the Ortnerhof with great dedication, experience and vision. They are the foundation of the house and continue to pass on their values and knowledge to this day.
The younger generation is carrying this path forward with new ideas, a fresh perspective and great enthusiasm. The Ortnerhof continues to evolve gently – always in harmony with tradition and the surrounding nature.
Together, we follow our path: respectful of what has grown and open to what lies ahead.
The Ortnerhof is run by the Kratzer family – as hosts, as a family and as people who run this place with heart and responsibility.
Since 1946, Tyrolean hospitality has been a way of life at the Ortnerhof. What once began with great-grandmother Irma – lovingly known as the “Oachtna Müta” by locals and long-time guests – as a summer retreat on a farm, has grown over generations into a place where genuine encounters and countless happy moments are created, nestled in the impressive natural scenery of the Virgental Valley.
In the Stubenhaus, you feel the soul of the Ortnerhof most of all – and that’s exactly why it is our heart. Here, we combine traditional East Tyrolean farmhouse style with a touch of modern elegance. Lots of wood, natural materials and a calm, cosy atmosphere make you feel welcome from the very first moment.
Our main house is the central meeting point at the Ortnerhof:this is where we welcome you personally at reception, where people eat, laugh and share stories in our cosy dining rooms.Downstairs, we have created small wellness spaces with a sauna, relaxation room and massage room – little retreats where you can simply switch off and unwind.
Upstairs, lovingly furnished rooms and holiday apartments await you – places to arrive, breathe deeply and feel at home. For us, the Stubenhaus is more than just a building: it is the place where encounters, enjoyment and genuine Ortnerhof moments are created.
Right next to the Stubenhaus is our Apartment House Stadl. We built it because we realised that many guests wanted more space, more independence – and still the Ortnerhof feeling. The result: six modern, stylish apartments for 2 to 6 people.
Clean lines, warm colours and Alpine charm create a modern feel-good atmosphere – exactly how we would love to holiday ourselves.
Each apartment features separate double bedrooms with private bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and a spacious living area with a comfortable sofa for the whole family or friends. Our guests especially appreciate that everyone has their own space – and we love hearing how well it’s received.
And even though everything here is designed for independence, hardly anyone skips our half-board option: freshly cooked every day, inspired by the region and simply really good. Too good to miss.
For relaxing moments, you’ll also find an outdoor sauna and a cosy relaxation room in the Stadl – little favourite spots to end your holiday day in a calm and peaceful way.
Whether at reception, in service, in the kitchen, at the riding stable or behind the scenes: it’s the people who bring the Ortnerhof to life and give it its special atmosphere.
Our team is small, close-knit and many have been part of the house for years. Like a rope team in the mountains, trust, togetherness and knowing you can rely on each other are what count for us.
